The
music and the video are inspired
by seven paintings by Imre Égerházi,
hungarian painter (1925 - 2001).
The idea of the film came up
in May 2003, when there were
the music and pictures only,
with no storyboard.
As the "Ice World"
animation team were experienced
Toonz users, it was obvious
for them that they wouldn’t
be able to keep the deadline
and the budget with traditional
methods. They were looking for
something new and in parallel
the TAB was coming up and seemed
to be ideal for them, so they
bought the software before its
official release.
After they had bought the software,
they started to use it for film
production. The entire project
took only two months and a half,
including the time needed to
be up to speed with the TAB
and make some experiments before
going actually in production.
This period of time included
the making of the animation
storyboard, the learning of
the software, the complete animation
and post production, altogether
there were only two animators,
a technical supervisor and a
post-production expert working
on the project. The complete
animation was done in the TAB,
including 3D movements in a
multiplane environment, while
the post production was done
in Digital Fusion and Avid.
