Interview
with the Winner
How
did you get interested in animation?
I
caught the animation bug when
I visited Berlin. An artist
called Natalia showed up with
a suitcase full of Russian animation
on old Betamax tapes. That night
I searched the electronic shops
for a VCR that would play the
tapes. We threw a mad party
and watched the videos. Russian
animation is very odd but visually
I was hooked. My favorites were
the cut paper animations.
What
about the animation biod?
My
animation "biod" is
meant to look like cut
paper. I wrote the music
to sound like BBC Radiophonic.
I used an Alesis micron synthesiser
and an Eventide H3000-D/SX.
While I recorded the music in
Sound Forge all sound editing
was done in the TAB.
How
was working with the TAB?
I
enjoyed working with the TAB.
"biod" is a small
piece of a longer film I had
planned to create using XSI.
I will now complete the film
using the TAB.
Which
TAB feature was particularly
useful?
The
camera. When I work in Flash
MX, I miss the TAB camera.
Did
the TAB influence the artistic
result of your work?
Yes,
the TAB made it possible. I
have limited time to work on
my own projects. Without the
TAB "biod" would be
unfinished.
What
did the you like most in the
TAB?
The
camera. Linking columns. Asset
management.
What
do you like least in the TAB?
The fill tool when my line work
isn't perfect.
